Urgo Insect Repellent

Effective prevention with the right repellents:

Choose the active substance carefully:

The active substance traditionally recognised as being one of the most effective to repel insects is DEET (diethyltoluamide). It provides protection for a variable length of time, depending mainly on its concentration in the repellent and the outside temperature.

Identify the zone:

  • In temperate zones, the use of products containing a high active substance concentration is not recommended.
  • In infested zones, maximum protection using a concentrated repellent is recommended.

A higher active substance concentration leads to:

  • A longer protection period
  • Greater efficacy against the insects covered by the repellent’s spectrum

Specific cases:

Young children:

  • The safety of repellents has not been established in children under the age of 30 months.
  • As a precaution, AFSSAPS (the French medicines agency) does not advise any product and recommends against taking young children to high-risk zones.

Pregnant women:

  • The use of repellents and travelling to high-risk areas are also advised against by the Pasteur Institute.
