Coughs

A cough is an automatic reflex action, which is self-supported and which is designed to expel foreign bodies or mucus that may be causing congestion in the respiratory tract.

2 types of cough:

Chesty coughs

Productive coughs which help expel excess mucus from the respiratory tract. It is therefore necessary to CONTINUE TO COUGH.

Dry coughs

Non-productive, useless, irritating coughs which are tiring since they are self-supporting and exacerbate the initial irritation, thereby triggering coughing fits. It is therefore necessary to STOP COUGHING.

If you are having difficulty deciding which type of cough you have, do not hesitate to ask your pharmacist for advice.
